In Field Applied Research Trials

Preotica Milestones
The world is starting to look for new alternatives to antibiotics. The EU Has moved towards a complete ban of antibiotics in feed antimicrobials since 2006. In the US 5% of egg production is organic and AUS Interest for organic antibiotic free eggs is increasing.

POULTRY TRIALS / E.COLI

Addressing E.coli in the industry
Western Australia, AUS 2018
8,000 birds
Weekly mortality showed significant decrease by 65% in 10 days
Preotica preventative solution shows a direct significant positive impact on drug-resistant infections
POULTRY TRIALS / SPOTTY LIVER DISEASE
Addressing Spotty Liver Disease in the industry – In Field Applied Research Trials
Western Australia, AUS. 5,500 free range birds

Results:
Birds had spotty liver disease since week 21.
Birds were given antibiotics for 3 weeks from week 25-27.
On week 28, birds started to be fed with mushroom extract.
No sign of spotty liver disease development following the treatment with antibiotics.

Results:
After one week of treatment with the mushroom extract,
the eggs numbers (% of week) has increased by 5% and has
reached the maximum observed by the farmer since the beginning of production.

Addressing Spotty Liver Disease in the industry
WA, Australia 2019
14,000 birds
Weekly egg numbers showed increase of 16.5% in the prevention model compared to the treatment model.
Total mortality showed decrease by 65% in the prevention model compared to the treatment model
Trial: 14,000 birds
A comparison between two trials, one had SLD detected from week 23 and treated with antibiotics until week 28 before treatment with mushroom extract (red). The other one was prevented since their 16 weeks of age.

Results:
Results show an increase of 16.5% in total weekly egg number (% of week) from week 16 to week 48 in the birds fed with the extract as a prevention compared to the birds fed with the extract as a treatment.

Results:
Results show a decrease in total mortality by 65% in the birds prevented with the extract since their 16 weeks of age.
Trial: 20,000 birds
Trial where another 20,000 birds were fed with the extract and 20,000 birds were a control group without extract,
from week 18 to week 31 of age. The control birds were fed with antibiotics at 24 weeks of age
because of Spotty Liver Disease outbreak.

Results:
Total dirty eggs have decreased by 28.7% in the treated group compared to the control shed
Results:
Total cumulative Hens Housed Eggs increased by 4.4% in the treated group compared to control group
AQUACULTURE TRIALS
Natural Solution For Prawn’s Health
Preotica is an evolutionary life sciences company that has been focusing on counteracting anti-microbial related issues. Utilising mycelium bio-technology extraction processes in conjunction with ancient, Indigenous bush medicine the company has been able to produce some remarkable results in the poultry, bees and aquaculture industries.
Our Strategy For Prawns
Supporting immunity in colonies of prawns leading to a reduction in disease and mortality. This can be achieved by extracting bioactive compounds from medicinal mushrooms with antimicrobial and antiviral activities, making available to prawn colonies as a feed supplement. More specifically we offer the ability to use highly potent extracts with selected b‐glucans which have an immunostimulatory benefit enhancing prawn specific humoral immunity, reducing mortality and helping prawns survive infections.
Issues
Our solution is focused on preventing and helping to treat the following issues identified as of largest concern for the industry:
-
- White-spot syndrome virus (WSSV).
-
- Monodon baculovirus (MBV).
-
- Yellow-head virus (YHV).
-
- Hepatopancreatic parvovirus (HPV).
-
- Related Australian lymphoid organ virus (LOV).
-
- Gill associated virus (GAV).
-
- Infectious hypodermal and hematopoietic necrosis virus (IHHNV).
-
- Taura syndrome virus (TSV).
-
- Mourilyan virus (MOV).
-
- Laem Singh virus (LSNV).
-
- Baculovirus midgut gland necrosis virus (BMNV).
-
- Monodon slow growth syndrome (MSGS).
-
- Infectious myonecrosis virus (IMNV).
-
- Macrobrachium rosenbergii nodavirus (MrNV).
-
- Extra small virus (XSV).
Solution
Preotica extract for shrimp is a complex of fungi strains and Australian native bush foods with immunostimulants bioactive compounds such as [beta]-1,3-glucan and triterpenoids extracted to target specifically the white spot syndrome virus.
This solution is designed to improve resistance to diseases in shrimp by decreasing mortality rate significantly.
Laboratory test
Residues, mycotoxins, and heavy metals have been conducted as safety tests.
Research
So far we have conducted large scale in field research on 6 millions prawns with the below results.

Preotica extract group (red) shows a statistically significant increase of production with +15% more post-larvae (PLs) than control group (blue).
Operation Manager feedback
“Overall results of these first trials are encouraging. The noticeable difference between trial vs. control (+15%) seems to imply an effect on the bacterial load/infection – one of the challenges we regularly deal with in prawn hatcheries. This could be perceived as a confirmation of the mushroom extracts ability to control/inhibit bacterial growth”.
SUMMARY
To date we have run trials on 1100 hives which is a total of 55Million bees, 200,000 Chickens and 6 million prawns.
“Farmers and consumers are aware of antibiotics and don’t want to be using or consuming them in their eggs or chickens. A natural solution like this is the answer”.
